Prof. Mohammadjafar Kermani
Amirkabir University of Technology
Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion Chinese Academy of Sciences
Brief Introduction:
Mohammadjafar Kermani is the recipient of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) fellowships in one of its highest levels. His research interest falls in
fluidmechanics. Examples include shock waves and compressible flows, PEM fuel cells flow field deigns, steam turbines, drag reduction techniques in
aeronautics applications.
He received his B.Sc. as the second ranked student in 1991 in Mechanical Engineering from Shiraz University, Iran, M.Sc. as the top student in 1994in
Applied Mathematics from Manchester University, U.K, and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University, Canada in 2001. He performed a
two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in University of New Brunswick, where he was also hired as a sessional lecturer. In his resume, there exist several
internationally awards and honors such as German Alexander von Humboldt fellowship at experienced levels, German DFG grant, winner of the 1st
poster prize, MITACS Atlantic Int., Halifax, NS, Canada, etc. He has so far co-authored 150+ papers and two approved patents. He is a Professor of
Thermal-Fluids in Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). At present he is performing the PIFI fellowship in professor level in
Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Presentation Topic:
Application of Fluid Mechanics for the Design of Selected Problems
From the list of recently performed projects by Professor Kermani and his teams, in 2021st International Symposium on Mechanical Systems and
Electronic Engineering (ISMSEE 2021) conference he will present an educational-oriented presentation, focusing on selected fluid mechanics
application for the design of specified industrial problems. Selected subjects for this meetings are:
PEM Fuel Cell (PEM FCs) Applications:
Flow field design for metallic PEM FCs,
Indentation of flow channels for facilitated delivery of reactants to reaction sites,
Aeronautics example, wing-tip leakages in airplanes wings, and application of winglets
To be performed at Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion,
Design of functionally graded material for flow field less PEM fuel cell,
Design of Heat management loop.
